Anti-fatigue lenses: relief for your eyes

Rediscover visual comfort, even before it becomes necessary to switch to progressive lenses.

Do you find yourself holding text farther away to read clearly? But you are not ready to switch to progressive lenses yet? Anti-fatigue lenses are a gentle and effective option—a preventive step for those who are beginning to find reading without eye pressure or visual fatigue more difficult.

The small relief your eyes need

An anti-fatigue lens, sometimes also called an accommodative support lens, is designed to help your eyes relax, especially during near-vision activities such as reading or using a cellphone.

This type of lens incorporates a light support zone in the lower portion, often around +0.50 diopters or more, which helps reduce visual effort. While it does not replace progressive lenses, it is often a first step and an ideal option for people aged 35 to 45 who are beginning to experience eye strain without yet needing multifocal correction.

How do anti-fatigue lenses work?

Anti-fatigue lenses are designed to follow the natural movement of your eyes when your reading focus is low and close to you. The upper portion of the lens provides clear distance vision, while the lower portion includes a slight added power to make near-vision tasks easier. This smooth transition helps reduce the effort required for accommodation, relieving the pressure felt after several hours of concentration.

The crystalline lens, which acts like an automatic magnifying glass inside your eye, can then relax, along with the muscles that control it. This creates genuine relief for those whose presbyopia or mild ametropia affects how images are focused on the retina.

Who are anti-fatigue lenses for?

  • You read or study texts for several hours a day
  • You spend time looking at your phone or working at close range
  • You feel pressure behind your eyes or in your temples after several hours of reading
  • You are looking for a solution before progressive lenses, with more comfort than your regular glasses

Hoya, the most durable lenses in the world

  • Hoya eyeglass lenses (Japan) are distinguished by exceptional hardness: during resistance tests carried out at the University of Montreal, they surpassed all other lens companies, Essilor, Nikon, Zeiss, etc... offering durable protection against everyday scratches.

  • Thanks to their high-performance anti-reflective coating, Hoya lenses resist heat and maintain a clear and intact surface, while many other competing anti-reflective coatings become damaged, degraded or marked under the effect of high temperatures.
